Preparing for your project

Like many things planning needs to be done when you are getting granite, marble, or any other type of stone.  So here is a list of things to keep in mind when getting your new counter tops

  1. Bring in a layout of your kitchen, bathroom, etc so quotes are generated properly.
  2. Make sure you are ready for your field measure- Cabinets should be installed and level.  If this is a remodel make sure you have your previous is top taken off.
  3. All plumbing fixtures should be ordered before the field measure.  This is important because we cannot re-cut something once it is cut.  So, everything has to be right the first time

Time to Celebrate

Usually I am posting about different stones and maintenance, but today I would like to take a moment and thank our customers and employees.  We are very fortunate to be celebrating 25 years in business this week, and we have grown to where we are today with the help of our customers and employees.

Our company started in a small 3000 square foot facility on Transit Road in Elma with five full-time employees.  By 1993, the company expanded to an 11,000 square foot facility with 10 employees. In 2006 Italian Marble and Granite, Inc. moved into its present facility in Clarence Center, New York, with over 20 employees and a 22,000 square foot facility. Some employees have been with the company for the entire 25 years in business. We have very loyal customers that come to us for every project, and we are very grateful for this.   Our employees and customers make us who we are today and without them we would not be where we are today.

Africa Granite

The Africa Range granites is one of our favorite lines that we carry.  The granites all have a lot of movement and great color.  They can be used in basically any type of kitchen, office, fireplace, bar, and more!  We love these!  They are imported directly from Africa and we receiving shipments regularly.   Which one is your favorite?

Stone Outdoors

Ever been interested in putting granite or some other type of stone outdoors?  Perhaps for a BBQ, Fireplace, tables.  Here are somethings to think about:

  • Soap Stone is one of the better stones to use around a fire pit.  Some stones cannot handle the heat from a fire pit very well, but soap stone can handle over 700 degrees.
  • If interested in stone for your outdoor bar, you do not want it to be dark.  Dark stones attract a lot of sunlight, thus getting hot.  Keep you stone light.
  • If you live in a place like Buffalo, NY then your stone is exposed to the elements of the outdoors.  So make sure you maintain it.

Indoor Patio

Here is a before picture of a kitchen that we were working on.  I thought it had the potential to be something stunning and wanted to show how much granite can change the feeling of a room.  The homeowner had purchased this house with the brick work existing.  Although it looks beautiful now a lot of hard work was put into remodeling this kitchen.
