Quartz

Quartz

Quartz is combination of man-made materials and natural stone. Its nonporous surface makes it more durable, stain resistant, and easier to clean than natural stone. Unlike natural stone, quartz offers more color versatility and uniformity in stone flow patterns. Quartz does not require the maintenance of natural stone. Its durable long- lasting surface makes it scratch, heat and fade resistant. More affordable than natural stone, quartz is popular choice for homeowners and commercial enterprises. And, our “wet shop” process meets all the stringent OSHA requirements needed to eliminate particles— making IM&G’s work environment safe and eco-friendly.

Recommended applications include: Countertops • Flooring • Walls

Quartz Countertops FAQs

Is Quartz a Good Investment for Resale Value?
Yes, quartz is considered an attractive feature by many homebuyers. Its durability, low maintenance, and modern look can increase your home’s appeal, potentially boosting its resale value. Quartz countertops offer a timeless style that fits in well with most interiors, giving your kitchen or bathroom a quality finish that can make a strong impression.
Is Quartz Safe for Food Prep?

Absolutely! Quartz’s non-porous surface resists bacteria, mold, and mildew, making it an excellent choice for kitchens where food prep is a priority. Unlike some natural stones, quartz won’t harbor germs or require additional treatments to stay food-safe. Just be sure to regularly wipe it down with soap and water to keep it clean and hygienic.

How Durable Are Quartz Countertops?
Quartz is extremely durable, designed to handle daily wear and tear in busy spaces like kitchens and bathrooms. It’s highly resistant to scratches, which means it won’t easily show signs of use over time. Quartz also stands up well to impacts and is less likely to chip compared to some other materials, making it a long-lasting choice that can keep up with your lifestyle.
What’s the Difference Between Quartz and Quartzite?
While they sound similar, quartz and quartzite are quite different. Quartz is engineered and available in a wide range of colors and patterns, while quartzite is a natural stone with unique, one-of-a-kind patterns. Quartz tends to be more durable and stain-resistant, whereas quartzite may require sealing to maintain its look. Quartzite typically offers a more natural, organic appearance, while quartz provides consistent colors and designs.
Is Quartz a Good Option for Outdoor Spaces?
Quartz is generally not recommended for outdoor use, as prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause discoloration and weaken the material over time. If you’re looking for an outdoor surface, options like granite or Dekton may be better suited to withstand the elements.
How Does Quartz Compare to Natural Stone?
Quartz offers the beauty of natural stone without some of the maintenance requirements. Unlike granite or marble, quartz doesn’t need sealing, making it easier to care for. It’s also more resistant to stains and scratches. However, if you love the one-of-a-kind look of natural stone, quartz may not replicate that completely, as it’s an engineered material with consistent patterns.

Fantastic experience working with the team at Italian Marble and Granite. In fact, they did such a wonderful job helping us update our kitchen and fireplace in our 1920s Buffalo home that we used IMG again to remodel our family cottage in the Finger Lakes, for the entire house this time- kitchen, pantry, laundry, bathrooms and basement kitchenette.Everyone on the IMG staff knows their stuff and is so attentive to detail.I could not be happier with my experience with Italian Marble and Granite, from my first meeting with Virginia to select stone, to meeting with Chris to go over details for fabrication, to the terrific team handling a difficult installation, led by the owner, Mark. Highly recommend this locally owned, family-run company. You will love the beautiful results.... Lori Moore, Buffalo, NY

The staff, designers and service from Italian Marble & Granite was excellent. Friendly, helpful staff helped us choose the right granite for our project. They were willing to search their resources for additional materials when they thought they didn't have enough of the product we wanted, in stock. The design staff created just the right cuts in the pieces to create a beautiful patterned look in our kitchen. Couldn't be happier with our finished product.
